In The Winter Bride we meet Damaris, another Chance Sister.
Damaris Chance’s unhappy past has turned her off the idea of marriage forever. But her guardian, Lady Beatrice Davenham, convinces her to make her coming out anyway – and have a season of carefree, uncomplicated fun.
“I want you to look after Aunt Bea and the girls while Abby and I are on our honeymoon,”Max, Lord Davenham, told his friend Freddy Monkton-Coombes.
My Thoughts on The Winter Bride
I absolutely loved The Winter Bride. It is a story full of fun and laughter. The first Chance Sister was about Abby, but this books stands alone if needed.
Damaris has agreed to have a coming out season with her sister. But she has no intention of getting married. Freddy doesn’t have any intention of getting married either. He convinces Damaris to agree to a fake marriage to get his mother and a whole bunch of marriageable young women off his tail. Surely nothing could be easier.
And so begins a fun filled journey for both Damaris and Freddy as they learn more about each other, muffins and experimental Chinese swimming pigs.
This is my first read from Anne Gracie. I loved the way the story flowed right off her fingertips. The characters are delightful, colourful and individual. The storyline fits the time period. I’m eager to read more of her novels.
